Choosing the right service
How do I know which PAN service I need?
Start with one question: do you already have a PAN? If you do not, New PAN Application is the relevant route. If you already have a PAN and a detail on it needs changing, choose PAN Correction / Update. If your card is lost, damaged, stolen or was not received, choose Lost / Damaged PAN Assistance. Requests for a company, firm, trust, society or other entity go to Business / Organisation PAN Assistance. If you are unsure, contact CAREALL and a person will help you choose.
I already have a PAN. Should I apply for a new one?
Generally, no. A person is not expected to hold more than one PAN. If a detail on your existing PAN is wrong or out of date, the Correction / Update route is usually the relevant one. If the physical card is lost or damaged, the Lost / Damaged route is usually relevant. CAREALL will help confirm the correct path for your situation.
I am not sure whether a PAN was ever issued to me. What should I do?
Do not start a New PAN request yet. Contact CAREALL by call or WhatsApp and explain the situation in general terms. CAREALL can guide you on the next step before any application is considered. Please do not send identity numbers or documents in your first message.
PAN basics
What is a PAN, and where is it used?
A PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a ten-character identifier issued under the income tax system in India. It is generally used when filing returns and for many financial and business transactions, and it is often accepted as an identity reference. Where exactly it is required depends on the transaction and on current official guidance.
Does a PAN expire or need renewal?
A PAN is generally issued once and stays with the holder, so there is normally no renewal to file. What can change over time are the details recorded against it, which is handled as a correction or update, and the physical card, which can be reprinted if it is lost or damaged.
Is a digital PAN available instead of a printed card?
A digital form of PAN is generally available through the official process alongside the physical card. Which option suits you depends on why you need it and on current official guidance. Ask CAREALL and they will explain the position that applies to your request.
What should I do if I think I have two PANs?
A person is not expected to hold more than one PAN. Do not keep using both. Contact CAREALL, describe the situation in general terms without sharing the numbers in a first message, and they will explain the process that currently applies for resolving it.
Do I need to link my PAN with Aadhaar?
Official guidance requires linking in certain cases, and the position has changed over time. CAREALL can explain what currently applies to your situation. Please do not send Aadhaar numbers or OTPs in a first message.
How do I check the progress of my request?
Ask CAREALL directly by phone or WhatsApp. This website has no status lookup, and CAREALL follows up with you through approved channels rather than through the site.
New PAN and minors
Who is the New PAN Application route for?
It is for a first-time applicant who does not already have a PAN, such as an adult individual, a minor through a parent or guardian, or another supported first-time category. CAREALL confirms whether your category is supported before any next step.
Can a PAN be applied for a minor?
A minor PAN request is generally handled through a parent or guardian, who acts on the minor's behalf. The exact preparation list follows current official guidance, so CAREALL confirms what is needed after understanding the situation. Start with basic contact details only.
What documents will I need for a new PAN?
Requirements generally involve proof of identity, address and date of birth, plus a photograph and signature where applicable. The accepted documents depend on the applicant category and current official guidance. CAREALL will confirm the relevant list for your case. Do not send documents through the website.
Who generally needs a PAN?
A PAN is commonly needed by people who file income tax returns, by those entering certain financial or property transactions, and by organisations that carry on business. Whether it is required in your case depends on your circumstances and on current official guidance, so ask CAREALL if you are unsure.
Does the applicant category change what is needed?
Yes. Supported categories differ, for example an adult individual, a minor through a parent or guardian, or an entity, and the applicable category affects the preparation. CAREALL confirms your category first and then explains what generally applies to it.
Corrections and updates
Which PAN details can be corrected or updated?
Common requests involve name, date of birth, parent details, address, photo or signature. Not every detail changes in the same way, and the supporting evidence depends on what is being changed. CAREALL reviews your correction type and explains the relevant process.
Will a correction give me a new PAN number?
A correction or update generally relates to your existing PAN rather than creating a new one. The PAN itself usually stays the same while the recorded details are updated through the applicable process.
Can I correct more than one detail at a time?
It may be possible to address more than one detail, depending on the details involved and current official guidance. Choose "Other / more than one detail" in the request form and CAREALL will explain the options.
I changed my name after marriage. Which route is that?
That is usually handled as a name correction or update on your existing PAN, supported by suitable evidence of the change. CAREALL reviews what you have and explains the relevant process.
My address has changed. Is that a correction?
Your address forms part of the details recorded against your PAN rather than something you read off the card, and updating it is handled as an update request. CAREALL will confirm what evidence generally applies.
My name is spelled differently across my documents. What should I do?
Mention it early. Differences in spelling, initials or order between documents are a common cause of delay, and CAREALL can tell you whether a correction is the right route before you gather anything.
Lost, damaged or not received
My PAN card is lost. Do I need a new PAN?
Usually not. Losing the physical card does not usually mean the PAN itself is lost. The relevant path is generally a reprint or replacement of the card for your existing PAN, not a New PAN Application.
I applied earlier but never received my card. Which route should I use?
Use Lost / Damaged PAN Assistance and choose "Not received". CAREALL will help you understand the relevant follow-up path. Do not start a new application in the meantime.
My card was stolen. Is there anything I should be careful about?
Treat identity information carefully and do not share your PAN, Aadhaar, OTPs or passwords with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly. Contact CAREALL about replacement assistance. Any steps beyond card replacement depend on your situation.
How do I know whether I need a reprint or a correction?
If the recorded details are correct and only the card is missing or unusable, a reprint or replacement is generally the route. If a detail on it is wrong or out of date, that is a correction. If both apply, say so and CAREALL will explain how the two relate.
Businesses and organisations
Which organisations can CAREALL assist with?
Requests may involve a company, firm, trust, society or another type of entity. CAREALL confirms whether a particular entity type and request are within its supported scope before any next step.
I am applying on behalf of an organisation. Should I use the individual form?
No. Organisation requests are different from individual applications, and entity evidence and representative details may be needed. Use Business / Organisation PAN Assistance so CAREALL can qualify the request correctly.
Who can act for an organisation in a PAN request?
Someone authorised to act for the entity, such as a director, partner, trustee or an officer given that authority. CAREALL will confirm what evidence of the entity and of your authority is generally needed for the request.
Where CAREALL can help
Can CAREALL help me if I am not in Tirunelveli?
Yes. CAREALL is based in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli, and assists customers elsewhere in India remotely, by phone and on WhatsApp. You do not need to be nearby to get help choosing the right PAN route and understanding what to prepare.
Is the PAN process different in my state or city?
No. PAN is handled through the central official process, so the four service routes and the general preparation categories do not change from one state or city to another. What can change over time is the official guidance itself, which applies nationally.
Do I have to visit an office in person?
CAREALL works with you by phone and WhatsApp, so a visit is usually not needed. If any step of the official process requires something to be done in person, CAREALL will tell you clearly before you proceed.
Is a PAN issued in one state valid elsewhere in India?
A PAN is a national identifier and is not tied to the state you applied from. Moving to another state does not require a new PAN, though you may want to update the details recorded against it, which is a correction or update request.
Privacy and safety
Will CAREALL ever ask for my OTP or portal password?
You should not share OTPs or government-portal passwords through this website or any messaging channel. If anyone asks you for these in connection with this website, stop and call CAREALL on the published number to check.
Does this website store the details I type into the form?
No. The request form checks your entries in your browser and does not send or save them. Only your selected service, request type and preferred language are placed in the WhatsApp message, and only when you choose to continue on WhatsApp.
