What this service is
The PAN Correction / Update route is for someone who already has a PAN and needs one of its recorded details corrected or updated.
Common requests involve name, date of birth, parent details, address, photo or signature. The evidence and process depend on the detail being changed, and not every detail changes in the same way.
CAREALL reviews the type of correction you need, explains what generally applies and assists through the authorised process within its verified scope. Your PAN itself generally stays the same. The recorded details are what change.
Who may need it

For example, a name change or a new address that you want reflected on your PAN.
A detail was recorded incorrectly
For example, a spelling error or an incorrect date of birth or parent detail.

Important notes and common mistakes
Important notes
- A correction generally relates to your existing PAN. It does not create a new PAN.
- The evidence needed depends on the detail being changed, and requirements can change. Current official guidance prevails.
- A CAREALL request does not by itself mean a correction has been filed or approved.
Common mistakes to avoid
Applying for a new PAN instead
If you already have a PAN, correction is usually the relevant route. A second PAN is not the answer.
Evidence that does not match the change
Supporting evidence should reflect the corrected detail. Ask CAREALL what generally applies.
Typing the old or new value into forms or chats
Choose the correction type only. CAREALL asks for actual values through an approved route when needed.
Assuming every detail changes the same way
Some details need more evidence than others. Check before you gather documents.
Frequently asked questions
Which PAN details can be corrected or updated?
Common requests involve name, date of birth, parent details, address, photo or signature. Not every detail changes in the same way, and the supporting evidence depends on what is being changed. CAREALL reviews your correction type and explains the relevant process.
Will a correction give me a new PAN number?
A correction or update generally relates to your existing PAN rather than creating a new one. The PAN itself usually stays the same while the recorded details are updated through the applicable process.
Can I correct more than one detail at a time?
It may be possible to address more than one detail, depending on the details involved and current official guidance. Choose "Other / more than one detail" in the request form and CAREALL will explain the options.
I already have a PAN. Should I apply for a new one?
Generally, no. A person is not expected to hold more than one PAN. If a detail on your existing PAN is wrong or out of date, the Correction / Update route is usually the relevant one. If the physical card is lost or damaged, the Lost / Damaged route is usually relevant. CAREALL will help confirm the correct path for your situation.
