How to choose the right PAN service

One question decides most cases. Do you already have a PAN? Here is how to pick the right route in one or two steps.

Quick answer

If you have never had a PAN, choose New PAN Application. If you already have one, choose Correction / Update for a wrong or changed detail, or Lost / Damaged for a missing or unusable card. Entities use Business / Organisation. If you are unsure, contact CAREALL.

Start with one question

Do you already have a PAN? The answer decides most cases.

  • No, never. New PAN Application is the relevant route. That includes a minor applying through a parent or guardian.
  • Yes, and a detail needs changing. PAN Correction / Update is usually relevant.
  • Yes, but the card is lost, damaged, stolen or not received. Lost / Damaged PAN Assistance is usually relevant.

Is the PAN for a person or an organisation?

If you are acting for a company, firm, trust, society or another entity, use Business / Organisation PAN Assistance. Entity requests differ from individual applications, so they should not go through an individual route.

When you are not sure

Some situations are not clear-cut. You may not know whether a PAN was issued earlier, or a card problem and a detail problem may overlap. In these cases, contact CAREALL before starting a request. A person will help you choose, and nothing is filed simply because you asked.

Why the right route matters

Choosing the wrong route can mean repeating work. A person is generally not expected to hold more than one PAN, so starting a new application when a PAN already exists is a common and avoidable mistake.
